The Grinch in Wonderland
Below is a running blog on the creation of a Horror Box titled Grinch in Wonderland.
Unlike previous boxes, this box is being painted using Gouache instead of acrylic. I wanted a medium that had the qiuck drying property if acrylic paint with but with the richness of oil and the ability to reactivate the medium, allso like oils. I’ve used gouache before, it’s a challenging but rewarding medium.

A tribute to The Prince of Darkness
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Horror! Books, movies, poscasts etc, I can not get enough. One of my favorite Horror Directors of all time is of course John Carpenter. John Carpenter’s music has always been one of his best tools when it comes to setting his audience on edge. There is no finer example of this than The Prince Of Darkenss (1987). The music, the art direction, location and of course the casting all make this tale because it sure isn’t the effects that made this movie as memorable as it is. Below are two posters I did as Alternative Movie Posters I did in homage to The Prince of Darkness.
the first features Alice Cooper as a possessed homeless man.
While the second features the Dream transmission from the future. Both are pretty hard hitting. But I’ve never been able to choose which I like the best!
Tell you what, let’s do a contest. You choose the poster you like best. One random voter will recive a print of their choice. Send me your votes to jerry.winnett@gmail.com
Sounds fun? It will be the contest starts now and runs til Dec 31st, 2018.

Stevie Marie and her Ouija Horror Box!
This is Stevie! She is one of my first customers to order a Grindhouse Ouija Horror Box! I truly hope she enjoys it while summoning the dead in a responsible manner!
Happy customer!
A friend of mine named Alexandria D. Hampton, contacted me about buying one of my Grindhouse Ouija Board Horror Boxes as Christmas present. At the time I had Big Red and Coco available. She chose Big Red. The following are pictures of Big Red and Megan Hope, the owner of Big Red. Megan, enjoy big Red.
I love these cigar boxes, they are well made for one.
and while they accept staining very well, there are some like Big Red that come with a beautifuly laquered shell already.
All of them come with beautifully decorated interiors which make them perfect for storing precious knick-knacks and other valuables inside.
Megan looks pretty happy!

Horror Boxes!
On Sept 29th I will be selling my work at The Monsters & Merriment Art Show which wis being held at the Natchez Winery, Nashville, TN. Las year, I concentrated on selling prints, this year I’m changing up my game. I’m selling Horror Boxes. That’s right, Horror Boxes. What is a Horror Box? It’s a box that contains, terrible cold! Dread! Voodoo! Terror! All that is dark in the human soul! Or, it can hold your wallet and keys. Each Horror Box started out as a cigar box, until one of my pieces was attached to tit’s top. Why Horror Boxes? Sim ple, I want to add a bit of funtionality to my work. Why just hang a piece of art on a wall? Sure, these boxes can be mounted onto a wall, but why not put a Horror Box on your desk? Or on a coffee table? A horror Box would look great on a shelf by itself or as an addition to your knick knacks cabinet. Personally, I have one that I put my keys, wallet, ear buds and change into each night. Here is a sample of what I have to offer so far. If you’d like to purchase a Horror Box you may do so at the Monsters and Merriment Art Show, or direct mail me at jwinnett@gmail.com
For moore infor on the show go to http://www.monstersandmerriment.com
Discalimer: Yes, I can reproduce each of these, but the finished piece will likely be come on a different box than what you see. I am at the mercy of available boxes when it comes to size and color.
The Two of Wands
The evolution of the Two of Wands from my upcoming Tarot deck.
Like most of my work I start with a pencil sketch. I’d taken inspiartion of this piece from photos of several different ceremonial skulls I’d come across.
Next up, stage 1.
Adding in that background.
Setting the mood.
Some artists listen to music when they work. For me it’s either audio books or a podcast.
Speaking of podcasts, I highly suggest the NoSleep Horror podcast! I love it and I’ve listened to quite a few episodes while painting my Tarot cards. Here is the address for Nosleep in case you want to give them a listen to https://www.thenosleeppodcast.com
Above is the finished card. My deck is as of yet unnamed, but I promise it will be named soon. All the subjects for the cards are original hand painted pieces done in oil on mixed media paper. If you’d like to buy prints of the finished cards you may do so here by clicking on paypal.me/JWINNETTCREATE and paying me $25.00. The price includes shipping and handling of the print. You can see and choose more prints at Tarot, a true conduit of life and death. All prints are 11×17 on heavy cardstock perfect for framing!
You will also be able to buy prints at the 2018 Monsters and Merriment Show Saturday, September 29th, 10am-7pm inside The Natchez Winery at Fontanel, Nashville, TN. For more information go to http://www.monstersandmerriment.com Admission is FREE! See you there!
Trumpussia
I think that after July 16th we don’t really need to ask if Trump colluded with Russia. Honestly, I think this piece sums it all up.
